Since Expo SDK 42, some disadvantages are not really true anymore. Native modules are now supported with config plugins, you can build your own "Expo Go" - it is called development client.

Also, build can be done locally ("expo run" command), or with new EAS Build service (free tier soon, now it's 1 month free trial). And you can host EAS Build locally too, so you have full control.
